Dumpster Rental in Dearborn

Flat-rate dumpster rental across Dearborn, east and west, with the City’s seven-day container rule explained before we deliver.

Dearborn is one of our busiest suburbs: big brick colonials and bungalows from the 1940s to 60s that are constantly being renovated, plus a steady run of home additions, roof replacements and estate cleanouts. West Dearborn’s larger lots take a 20 or 30-yard easily; the tighter east-side streets off Warren and Schaefer usually suit a 10 or 15.

It is about ten miles west of downtown Detroit, straight down Michigan Avenue or I-94, so same-day delivery is realistic when you call early. Contractors working the Ford Road and Michigan Avenue commercial corridors get scheduled swaps and one point of contact. One thing to know before you book: Dearborn’s code limits a temporary dumpster on a residential property to seven cumulative days in any 180-day period unless a construction or demolition permit is open, so we plan the rental around that.

Do I need a permit in Dearborn?

Dearborn is one of the few towns we serve with a written rule for dumpsters on private property. City Code Chapter 11, Division 13 (Secs. 11-241 to 11-244) allows a dumpster or temporary storage container on a property for an accumulative seven days within a 180-day period, one container at a time, not extending into the front setback, not obstructing a public walkway or the neighbour’s access, clearly marked with the company name and phone number, not filled beyond the top edge, and securely tarped when not in use. Sec. 11-243 extends that: a construction dumpster may stay for six months where a valid construction permit exists for the address, a demolition dumpster for the term of the demolition permit, and where the physical limits of a property prevent a private placement, the Chief of Police or a designee may allow a container on public property, and the Director of Economic Development may allow one in the front setback, both in writing and with the timeframe adjusted as they see fit. There is no separate published street-permit fee for dumpsters; the City’s fee schedule lists a $100 temporary construction or obstruction permit without naming containers. Building permits go through the Dearborn Administrative Center, 16901 Michigan Avenue, and BS&A Online. We know the rule and we will plan the placement and the dates with you before the truck rolls.

FAQ

Dearborn dumpster rental questions

  • Is a permit needed for a dumpster in Dearborn?
Dearborn’s code (Ch. 11 Div. 13) allows a temporary dumpster on private property for seven cumulative days in a 180-day period, one at a time, out of the front setback and tarped when not in use; six months with a construction permit, and a street or front-setback placement only with written approval from the Chief of Police or the Economic Development director. We plan around it.
  • How fast is delivery to Dearborn?
Same-day when you call before noon, otherwise next morning. Dearborn is about ten miles from downtown Detroit down Michigan Avenue or I-94.
  • Do you deliver to both east and west Dearborn?
Yes, all four Dearborn ZIPs, plus Dearborn Heights next door.
  • What happens if my Dearborn job takes longer than seven days?
If you hold a building permit for the work, the City allows a construction dumpster for six months. Without one, the seven-day limit applies, so we schedule the container for the days you are actually loading and swap it if needed. Tell us the job and we will plan it.
